The specialists of BVK foundry, which is part of KONAR Industrial Group, set up production of 15Х1М1ФЛ steel grade, which is used in production of equipment for energy industry.

Within the contract with the Ural Turbine Works, BVK LLC produces the castings of the high pressure cylinders for the steam turbine. To ensure a fault-free operation of this unit, the casting shall have all necessary mechanical and operational properties. The structural strength of the product is ensured by high quality of steel.

To confirm compliance with the industrial standard of power-plant engineering, the samples were sent to the leading state materials research institute CNIITMASH for testing. There, the creep-rupture testing for the castings metal was performed at high operating temperatures reaching 570°C

The studies confirmed high strength properties of the steel produced at BVK foundry and showed that it fully complies with the requirements of the industrial standard OST 108.901.102-78 and even surpasses in its mechanical properties as compared to the forged steel.

— The job performed by us allows extending competences in a new direction for the foundry – production of large-sized castings for power engineering companies, – Chief Process Engineer of BVK LLC, Andrey Bychkov, said.

Let us remind that Director of BVK foundry, Danila Pykhov, previously said that the facility is ready to take part in the retrofitting program for the thermal power plant DPM-2 approved by the Government of the Russian Federation, and to provide it with high-quality castings.
