At the INNOPROM-2021, the main Russian industrial exhibition, the parties agreed to cooperate in creating and implementing technologies and equipment for medium- and large-capacity production of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The document was signed by Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Alexey Teksler, Governor of Chelyabinsk region, Valery Retivov, Advisor of NOVATEK’s Chairman of the Board and Valery Bondarenko, General Director of KONAR JSC.

First of all, we are talking about the implementation of an innovative project to create a pumping unit for firefighting of offshore oil and gas facilities with sea water supply. In Chelyabinsk, on the territory of Stankomash Industrial Park, they will produce pumping units that are 23.5 meters high when assembled. Such unique equipment is needed to develop oil and gas fields in the difficult conditions of the Arctic. The units are placed on the offshore oil and gas platforms, LNG plants on the gravity-based structures. KONAR already supplies such units for NOVATEK, having outstripped the world leaders in this field. The agreement concluded today is aimed at strengthening the import independence of Russian Arctic oil and gas and LNG projects from foreign suppliers.

The signing took place at the exhibition stand of KONAR, which is presenting its shipbuilding competences at INNOPROM this year. The main exhibit was a real propeller unit for the Arctic class ships Icebreaker 7 with a diameter of almost 5 m, and the weight of each blade is more than 3 tons. In the shortest possible time, KONAR JSC carried out mastering of its production, using the experience of their partners from Italy. This propeller is 100% domestic production, including casting, machining and balancing. The vessel equipped with KONAR propellers is able to perform icebreaking operations in the Arctic seas, continuously advancing in solid ice up to 1.5 m thick.
