The program will provide training of future personnel for BVK foundry.

South Ural State University (SUSU) has started enrolling applicants for a joint educational program majoring in System engineering of Metallurgical Technologies. The study will be connected with the fields that are in a high-demand at KONAR Industrial Group enterprises. The enrollment provides 40 state-funded places, full-time education in Chelyabinsk for 4 years. School graduates from any region of Russia can enroll.

The implementation of a new joint educational project aimed at training highly qualified engineers and process engineers of foundry production will allow our company not only to fill the company ranks with young specialists who already know the specifics of the production process by the time they graduate from the university, but also to enhance the prestige of the engineering profession in the metallurgical industry. In the scope of the project, we set ambitious and, undoubtedly, socially significant tasks for our region, – said Aleksandra Grebenshchikova, Head of Innovative and Educational Environment Development Center of KONAR JSC.

KONAR and SUSU have a long-standing partnership relations. The company actively cooperates with teachers and students and organizes internships. University graduates make a successful career at the Group’s enterprises. In 2023, KONAR became the base site of SUSU for training specialists for foundry production. Targeted education majoring in System Engineering of Metallurgical Technologies has been adapted to the needs of BVK, a member of KONAR Industrial Group, and is maximally integrated into production.

South Ural State University, as a leading university in engineering education and a participant of the strategic academic leadership program Priority 2030, pays great attention to the transformation of educational programs in order to meet the needs of the industrial partners and the labor market. The university develops the format of a practice-oriented bachelor’s degree – one of the basic directions of modern higher education. Its introduction in the educational process with the reliance on the unique production technologies of KONAR Industrial Group is the result of the university’s systematic cooperation with the company, – said SUSU Rector Aleksander Vagner.

Individual guiding of the participants of the joint educational program is expected both in practice and in the whole process of study – professional navigation is available from the first year of study. Students will be assigned mentors from KONAR, who will also supervise graduation projects.

– Foundry production is the foundation, a reliable base of mechanical engineering, without which the development of the fuel and energy, oil and gas, automotive and machine tool industries is unthinkable, – said Danila Pykhov, Head of Foundry and Forging Division of KONAR Industrial Group. – And it is also a high-tech process which includes many IT-solutions, digital systems, new materials, modern services, 3D-modeling, scientific discoveries. This profession has always been in demand and will be popular in the future. Especially in the coming decades, as whole generations are leaving and there is a huge shortage of specialists.

Students will receive a double scholarship starting from the first semester – one from the university, the other from the company. It depends on the Unified State Examination scores and can reach up to 15 thousand rubles.

From the second semester and until the end of their studies, in case of successful academic performance, students will be able to conclude a contract with KONAR and continue to receive a personal scholarship from the company.

In addition, the contract on targeted study provides a number of advantages: housing rent compensation for non-residents, paid on-the-job internship, transport card, free sports and health programs, and most importantly – guaranteed employment after graduation.
